Blift

Payments & Wallet

Get paid, keep the records, stay out of arguments

Client payments, fee tracking, refunds and payouts run through one system — so the money side of your practice has the same paper trail as the casework.

Immigration fees are genuinely complicated, and clients know it

A single case can carry your legal fee, IRCC government fees, and third-party costs like biometrics or translation. When those arrive as separate requests over months, clients lose track and start to suspect they are being overcharged — even when they are not.

What it does

The detail

Stripe for every payment

All client payments run through Stripe. Clients can pay in their own currency; Stripe handles conversion and you settle in CAD.

Fee transparency

Legal fees, IRCC fees and third-party fees are set out separately so the client can see what each amount is for.

Your wallet

Earnings accumulate in your Blift wallet with a transaction record you can inspect line by line.

Payouts

Register a payout account and withdraw your balance, with withdrawal requests tracked end to end.

Refunds

Clients can request a refund and you can initiate one, with a review queue rather than an ad-hoc email negotiation.

Commission invoices

Blift’s service fee is invoiced clearly, so your own accounting reflects what the platform actually charged.

How it works

In practice

  1. 1

Set the fees on the case

Legal, IRCC and third-party fees are defined against the case, so the client sees the whole picture rather than a series of surprises.

  2. 2

    Client pays through Stripe

They pay in the currency they use. The transaction is recorded against the case automatically.

  3. 3

    Funds land in your wallet

Your balance reflects completed work, with a transaction history you can drill into at any time.

  4. 4

    Withdraw when you want

Request a withdrawal to your registered payout account and track it through to completion.

What changes day to day

Clients can see what each charge is for, which prevents most fee disputes
Refunds follow a process with a record, instead of a difficult conversation
Your accounting matches the platform’s, because the invoices line up
You always know what you have earned and what is still outstanding

Questions

Good to know

One payment path means one reconciliation path. Clients pay in their local currency, Stripe handles the exchange, and everything settles to CAD — which keeps your records consistent no matter where your clients are.
